Pics from Belle Isle

Some miniatures from out little jaunt downtown, as you can see the bridge we walked over to get to the island does little more than hang down from beneath the highway which goes over the top of the James River. The James is full of rocks and has a fair old current - they white water raft along here when the water is deep enough.

I also got a rather nice picture of what I think is a little oil slick in the middle of a small pond on the island. When the sun caught it you got some great colours which I think you can just about make out on something this size.
The other thing to note is a building in Downtown Richmond, not far from here, done by the same architect as the World Trade Centre in New York. Apparently this is the last building he designed before the WTC. The similarities are quite striking.

Weekend in Leeds

Had a very nice weekend in Leeds at Kat & Chris' housewarming. There was a good crowd a mixture of family, people from their work and then friends from home and University.

On Sunday those of us who had stayed overnight - about a dozen or so - and who did not need to rush off, went for a lovely walk in Roundhay Park. There's some nice autumnal pics up here - I particularly like the two shots below which kind of sum everything up really. The only downside was that the drive back, which had taken a mere 2 hours or so on the way up, took 6 hours on the return. Ah yes, the joys of the M1...

It's also Fall in the US right now too - Dina's posted a few nice pics up here. Let's see if the leaves hold by the time I get out there in a couple of weeks...
